My condolences to the family for their loss. I will always remember Tom through his efforts with youth soccer. His indoor tournaments at MJC were terrific. He advised me on coaching and encouraged my enrollment in John Ellinger's coach licensing classes. I will always feel indebted to Tom and the kids I coached share that debt indirectly.

Tom Bichy was an excellent coach, and most importantly, a strong advocate for students. I knew him as a colleague at Montgomery College for many years, and I will always remember his enthusiasm, his love of sports, and his genuine caring attitude.

What a great guy! My first crush. I remember when he moved from Baltimore to join our 7th grade class at Elm Street School. He fit right in and was admired for his athletic ability through out our years at FHS. I am so glad I spent alittle time with him at the last reunion. I remember thinking he had not changed abit. He will be missed by many. I bet he ws a terrific husband and dad. My sincerest condolences. "Burkey"

Tom was one of the very finest people I've ever had the pleasure to know. He was a great leader and mentor for thousands of young adults as well as a generous friend to so many people.
Tom was a classical leader, leading by example, seemingly saying, "if you do as I do, everything will work out."
For Tom's influence and mentoring I will be forever grateful. And to his beloved family, I wish the very best in these very difficult times.

I was fortunate enough to have Tom as my uncle, as he married my mother's sister. We spent many Easter's at their house in Olney with their family and the house was always filled with laughter from all the relatives of the family. After I got out of college and was waiting to begin teaching in Bethesda, Tom found me a job at Brentwood CC where he ran the summer camp. I remember how much everyone, both campers and staff so loved Tom. He was without question one of the kindest, most gentle individuals I have ever had the pleasure to know. But don't for a second take that calm demeanor for granted if you ever found yourself on the tennis court with him as he was a fierce competitor. He loved competition of any kind and even though he loved to win, all he ever exhibited was pure joy for the pleasure of competing. He was a very gifted athlete, humble, gracious, kind and a man you would be proud to have coach/teach your kids. I spent many evenings with Tom and Elaine the summer I lived in Gaithersburg, and despite Elaine complaining about my eating all her grapes, I have nothing but fond memories of being around Aunt Elaine and Uncle Tom. He was a unique man, especially in these times. The last person he ever thought about was himself. He always put the interest of his players, students, kids, wife, relatives, friends ahead of his own. A more selfless saint you could not find. I will miss him, he was taken from us way too soon, but I will also cherish the fact that my life, along with thousands of others, was better off because we were fortunate to have had Tom Bichy in our lives.

Dear Elaine,
I learned of Tom's death today and immediately felt the wind go out of my sails, so the saying goes. Joe and I are in Florida now and won't be able to make it to St. Peter's for Tom's funeral. Tom was one of my favorite people at the College, and I loved his compassion for all of his students, past and present, and his devotion to the College in general. I am so happy that he was able to play in the Foundation Golf Classic so many times with his fearless foursome. My heart goes out to you and your family. Tom was a wonderful, caring man. Peace be with you today and always.

To all the Bichy's, you've lost a very special man , and to us a very special person! Coach Bichy was a small man in stature but he loomed larger than life over his brood ! By that i not only mean your immediate family , and too the 1000's & 1000's of lives that he made such an unerasable imprint on , mine included ! I went away to a large mid-west university that was a top soccer school! I became home sick after a while,so i headed back to Md. after visiting U of M-CP, i landed at Harvard on the Pike, i kind of felt like a failure after having so many div. 1 offers ! I'll never forget that look on his face when i walked into his office , those little beady eyes got as wide as silver dollars, as he reached over from his side of the desk trying to hug me while he said, " tell me your here to play soccer for me "! I said yes, so i did and i can say without any conviction it was absolutely the greatest & most enjoyable soccer experience of my life ! I wouldn't trade it for anything, it was special ! I developed a lot of life long friendships from my 2 years at MC , however Tom was not one of them, and for that i am deeply sorry ,i ask you for your forgiveness !!!! I know Coach was the pusher that got me into MC sports hall of fame , and i know the valuable lessons of life that he drilled into me , he always pushed me a little harder & challenged me to be a better soccer player.I wish i would of stayed in better contact! Coaches (teachers) are the next best mentors beside your parents, they have complete access to your mind your heart and your soul ! Tom Bichy left an indelible footprint on my life, i just wish i was half the man he was ! I kind of related Coach Bichy's career as that of Mr.Hollands in that memorable movie where the teacher kind of thought his life was maybe, uneventful. i don't think for a moment that he thought his life was uneventful, but it paralleld his career, he never coached at any major college or got the accolades he so richly deserved , he could of but he didn't he stayed right here in good old Rockville & for that a lot of lives were enriched, we are his OPUS !!! Your father was a GREAT MAN AND INDIVIDUAL Who's spirit and memory i will take to my own grave ! He went way to soon, May God bless you and Coach Bichy ! Until we meet again Coach keep on kickin !
