THOMAS CARROLL Obituary
Thomas E. CARROLL Jr.
Died September 22, 2021, at 85. A World Series champion with the 1956 New York Yankees; the youngest Yankee ever to appear in a World Series, in 1955. Loyal graduate of the University of Notre Dame, 1961. Decorated operations career with the CIA, 1961-88, rising to Senior Intelligence Service. Later a top corporate consultant on Latin America until 2006. Survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, the former Joan Parker; brother John Terence; children Catherine, Michael (Rose May), John (Corina, deceased), Jean Carroll Kemp (Todd); treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by beloved parents Thomas and Catherine Carroll, and sister Gloria Scollard. Funeral service Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 2 p.m., St. Andrew's in the Pines, Peachtree City, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a local Children's Advocacy Center.

What a remarkable career Mr. Carroll had, both in and after baseball. I never met him but when I was 10 I opened a pack of Topps baseball cards and was introduced to a Yankee rookie with a high batting average.

TOMMY CARROLL WAS A WORLD SERIES CHAMPION IN 1956 WITH THE NEW YORK YANKEES AND IN 1955 WAS THE YOUNGEST YANKEES PLAYER EVER TO APPEAR IN A WORLD SERIES.

My sincerest condolences, if late. Tommy and I were next-door neighbors in St. Albans and daily played baseball and basketball and stickball together with the Pratt brothers. He was always the best. He was also a gracious host to my parents when they went on a cruise to South America. My condolences also to Gloria´s family.
