Thomas Coldwell Obituary

COLDWELL THOMAS COLDWELL CAPT USN (Ret.) Thomas Coldwell, Captain, USN (Retired), passed away on August 4, 2009, in Cary, North Carolina. Tom was born on May 15, 1935 in Danville, Illinois. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1958 and married Mary Ann Miller on July 6, of that year. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served 26 years primarily as an information officer for Navy commands ashore and afloat. After retirement, Tom was a member of the foundation staff of the U.S. Navy Memorial which is located on Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C. He served there as public affairs director. Tom was an avid photographer and he put his hobby to good use as he and his wife spent twenty years boating on the Chesapeake Bay and other waterways. Tom is survived by his wife Mary Ann; daughters, Lee Horneck of Golden, CO and Ann Cuttler of Herndon, VA.; son Jeff Coldwell of Houston, TX; grandchildren Robbie and Lauren Coldwell and Braden and Emily Cuttler. His brother, Philip Coldwell lives in Brandon, FL. For those wishing to remember Tom, gifts may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Services will be held on November 23, 2009 at 1 p.m. at The Old Post Chapel at Ft. Myer in Ft. Myer, Va. followed by burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
