I just learned on December 16, 2024, of this wonderful man's passing. I had noticed his absence last winter when I made a periodic visit to the thrift store where he had served visitors so graciously and efficiently for many years. I was told no one knew where he was. Finally I saw a staffer yesterday who knew him and of his passing. Thomas was a big part of the experience of visiting his store, not only for his eagerness to help make us feel valued and very welcome, but for his good spirits, warmth, attentiveness to customers as people, sweetness, and energy. I have missed him these months, and the staffer said everyone still keenly felt his loss. Rest in peace, dear soul.

I just found out this evening, when I visited the Georgia Avenue Thrift Shop and asked if he was on duty, that this lovely gentleman had passed away. The shock caused me to flee to my car and cry. Thomas befriended me after I moved to Silver Spring from the state of Maine and was a frequent shopper at his place of employment. He was always cheerful, welcoming, thoughtful and concerned. How delighted his relatives must have been to have such a rare jewel in the family. There is no doubt that Jesus welcomed Thomas to his side in Heaven. I hope all those dear to him can draw comfort from that thought. May God continue to Bless Thomas and his grieving family.

Thomas and I were in the RAYC of the Washington Conference of the Second Episcopal District of the AME Church. While we didn't stay close friends through the years, we greeted each other as friends when we met. I rejoice in the knowledge that he has joined the great cloud of witnesses and pray for his family's peace.
Good night Thomas. See you in the morning.

Many years ago, Thomas and I were members of the RAYC in the Washington Conference of the Second Episcopal District of the AME Church. While we didn't remain in close contact, he continued to greet each other as if we saw each other every day. I rejoice in knowing he has joined the great crowd of witnesses and pray for the family's peace.
Good night Thomas. See you in the morning.
