BOSWELL J THORNTON BOSWELL, M.D. Commander, U.S. Navy, (Ret.) On Monday, July 19, 2010, of Sandy Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Amy Bell Boswell, loving father of Gary (and wife Kelly) Boswell and the late Bruce Boswell; grandfather of Jay Boswell; brother of the late Patricia Ann Allen. The family will receive friends at PUMPHREY''S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave. (Route 28 just off I-270 exit 6-A) Rockville, MD on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service and interment private. My wife, Ann Mary, is the daughter of the late Dr. James J. Humes and Mrs. Ann Humes. Dr. Humes and Dr. Boswell were professional colleagues and the two families were close personal friends for many, many years.
My wife had a car appropriately named "Mr. Bill" after the self-destructing character on Saturday Night Live. While driving from Detroit to Washington, Mr. Bill did self-destruct on I-270 in Maryland and Dr. Boswell came to the rescue. Not only that, but Dr. and Mrs. Boswell babysat Mr. Bill's carcass until we finally had it towed from their driveway, surely to the extreme pleasure of their neighbors. We lived in the D.C. area for a number of years and were frequently graciously welcomed into Dr. and Mrs. Boswell's home. They became our D.C. family and we will be forever grateful. Our sincere condolences to Mrs. Boswell and to Gary and his family.
