WILSON ULYSSES L. WILSON On March 17, 2008, of Alexandria, VA. Beloved husband of Viola W. Wilson; father of Marjorie "Tena" Turner and Alfreda Thomas. Visitation Tuesday, March 25, 9 a.m., service 11 a.m., at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 6634 St. Barnabas Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the church mortgage fund. Services by J.B. JENKINS.

Uncle Ulysses L. Wilson, or Uncle June as my siblings and I called him, was a great man. As a boy, I remember when he would visit us when he would return home from over seas. When I was 9 years old, I had no idea where “over seas” was but it sounded really far away. But it didn’t matter because Uncle June was home. As I grew up I grew closer to the Wilson family. In many respects I felt as if I was an immediate family member. There were times when I felt like I knew more about the lives of Theresa, Tina and Alfreda than I did Beverly and Faye’s. My marriage took me in a different direction, away from Uncle June and family. This year I had hoped to rekindle that relationship I had with him because I missed those rather intimate Uncle to nephew talks that only he and I shared. I miss you Uncle June.

Brother Wilson, I will always remember when you literally "gave of your left shoe", one year when I arrived at the Grand Lodge Session and had left my black shoes home. That is just the type of person that you were. Someone who was quiet, but always there to provide advice and needed support.
