When I heard that you had past, it was hard to believe. We had a good time on the mid-night shift at Blair and to know that we will never relive those moments again through conversation is a big let-down. Miss you, but you are definitely in a better place. Everything is just the way you left it, and everybody is the same. More folks need your counseling, however, and I could use a hair-cut.

Vaughn was truly a gentleman and will remain vibrant in my heart. It's still hard to not be able to see and talk with him. He was the kind of friend that defined the true definition of FRIEND.

Monroe, I found out about your death 3 days after the funeral. I'm sorry that you are gone. GOD knows best. You are every example of what a REAL MAN is. I enyoyed working with you at the BLAIR HOUSE and I hold fond memories of you visting my husband and I in the hospital when Lil' Geoffrey was born. You gave me so much strength during that period. You shared your mother Gwen with me and your friends. We would see each other in passing and I would tease you about working your good Government Job. OH How, I will miss you. It took awhile for me to write anything here, because I'm still in disbelief. Vaughn was to be one of Groomsmen in my upcoming wedding and Addy was a Maid of Honor. They both organized our engagement party, and Vaughn did all the cooking himself. I was privilaged enough to spend time with Vaughn in his last hours at the Christmas Party, not knowing that that would be our last seeing each other here on earth. Vaughn was so loving and caring, it sometimes let you wondering, Why is he so nice? That was just his nature. That Saturday at the party, we were talking about about and acting out funny and stupid poses that the Groomsmen would take before the wedding. Again it's hard to believe that he's gone in body, but will live with Trina and myself in spirit forever. July 12, 2008, a candle will burn in memory of both Vaughn and Adrienne at our wedding, in rememberance of the love they shared with us.

My prayers go out to the family at your time of grief. Vaughn was a good friend and just like everyone else mentioned in the previous notes he had a great sense of humor, always a gentlemen, and every time I saw him sharp as tack. He was one of a kind. "Bentley Fonsworth" is what I would call him because of the way he dressed, what a sharp dresser! To Ms. Gwen, I never met you but I heard great things about you and Vaughn's daughter. You raised a fine young man and as to the world who knew him, he will be greatly missed. May God bless you and your family. As a rememberance, I have some pics that I took of Vaughn, so if you're interested, please feel free to contact me on the contact info link. You are not alone Mr. Monroe, my mother just arrived in heaven a few weeks ago, so she will definitely "show" you around. I Love You and thanks for being one of DC's finest. Your southern friend, Courtney

To the family...
I am so very saddened by the loss of my friend. May the memories of the beautiful spirit that he shared with so many now bring you comfort during this difficult time. We first met when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. There was not a single time when I spoke with him or saw him that he didn't instantly brighten my day. I will always remember his smile and his sense of humor. I thank God for sharing his angel with me/us for the time that we had him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
It has been a pleasure knowing Vaughn Monroe. He kept the staff as well as the clients laughing at The Blair House. At 12:00am Vaughn had a way of waking up the whole house "Count Time".
He will be missed but not forgotten.

To The Family,
I feel very fortunate to have met one of the kindest and craziest persons on the face of the earth. Vaughn was truly the life of the office. He could make u laugh even if you didnt want to. It saddens me to know that I wont see him running around the office like a kid at heart, which was one of the things I loved most about him. He may be gone but he will NEVER be forgotten.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To the family of Vaughn Monroe,
I was was shocked and saddened by Vaughn's sudden passing. They say that the "Good Ones" always go that way. Way too soon.
I have had to call on Vaughn for assistance many times during my tenure at DPW and he was always pleasant and helpful.
He was always smiling whenever, whatever the situation. Not to mention that Vaughn was the only guy I knew that could work in the field for 8 hours and still have a shine on his shoes. He will be truly missed.

I worked with this young man in 2005 at DPW/SWEEP. He always had a smile for everyone and was quick with the jokes that brightened the day. Its far too soon for him to leave, but we must take comfort in the fact that God makes no mistakes. The Lord takes only the best and I guess he was missing some humor and called Vaughn home. To the family, prayers are going out to you in this time of mourning. As hard as it may be right now, always remember the good times, cherish the memories. Be Blessed.

Ms. Gwen ~ I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I sat and reflected on the friendship that I once shared with "Mann" (Vaughn) and I am glad that I had the opportunity to cross paths with such a fun-loving and caring person. He touched everyone that he came in contact with tremendously. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of those family and friends that he touched. During this time, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'll continue to pray that God blesses you and your family in this time of sorrow. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help at this time.
