Victor Kamber Obituary

Victor Samuel Kamber died peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the age of 80 after a long illness in McLean, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his husband Timothy Baade, and his parents Samuel and Cordelia Kamber.

Vic was an author, adjunct professor, lawyer, communications expert, political strategist, consultant, and a lifelong labor activist. He used his many talents to advance the betterment of millions of workers through public policy and electing pro worker candidates. His early work with the AFL CIO, through the building trades, catapulted Vic to chief lobbyist. In that position, he had an impact on significant legislation, including an attempt to pass labor law reform.

When Vic formed his own company, The Kamber Group, his client list was a who's who in labor, as well as an array of Democratic Candidates at all levels of government. His commitment led him to form his own Progressive Political Action Committee.

Vic was known and admired for his political acumen, media savvy, and innovative campaign strategies. He spent many hours on boards and television as an expert analyst, a passionate defender and promoter of economic equality, justice, and worker's rights.

Vic ended his career as Vice President and Executive Director of American Income Life Insurance, a 100% Union Company. He solidified his lifelong relationships in service to working families.

Vic's unwavering support and loyalty to a Working Family Agenda, earned him the admiration and respect across the spectrum of leaders in labor, business, and politics - from Presidents to Senators and Members of the House, spanning decades.

Vic was a lover of animals. His two Siamese cats, Navid and Barzon were loved and pampered very much. Services will be private.

I still remember Victor Kamber offering me praise when I was a young intern in his firm, going through graduate school at American University. He stopped by to let me know that my supervisor was "singing your praises." The visit meant so much to me then. I wrote a note to him years later, recommending a painting to the firm, and Victor took the time to write back. I am so glad I worked for The Kamber Group.

I'm just learning of Victor's passing to the other side and it greatly saddens me. I worked for Victor at TKG as the Accounting Supervisor from 1989 - 1991 having moved from Texas to DC after falling in love with the area while visiting a few years before with one of my cousins. Victor was one of the kindest people I've ever met! I'm so very grateful for the opportunity to have worked for such an esteemed man and company. His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers for comfort, living now without his physical presence. I know he will be greatly missed by many people! Thank you, Victor, for the kindness you always showed me - you will always have a special place in my heart!

“Cousin” Vic & I grew up together in Chicago. We enjoyed summers & weekends together. He always made me laugh & smile no matter the situation. We were actually not cousins but both being Assyrian that’s what we called everyone. I will miss you “cousin” & I will continue smiling when I think of you. RIP.
