Virginia Shea Obituary

Ginger Shea died on October 9, 2025, after a long illness. Her entire surviving family (Spouse John R Shea; daughter Laura A Shea; son John C Shea; daughter-in-law Shelby L Shea; grandson Martin C Shea; sister Elizabeth Fitz Scott; and brother Harold Carlton Fitz III) had all been with her until shortly before her death. Her deceased parents were Harold Carlton Fitz Jr and Virginia White Fitz of Shady Side, Maryland. Ginger will be remembered for her advocacy and volunteer work relating to elementary education in Fairfax County, and for editing the Lincolnia Park Civic Association Newsletter for over a decade. Many remember her as the nicest person they have ever met. A funeral service will be held at St Albans Episcopal Church, 6800 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Yesterday

Dear Laura and family, I am so very sorry to hear of your mom´s passing. She was such a lovely human being. I´ll never forget her warmth and kindness. She was so welcoming and pleasant to be around. She was also an amazing host and wonderful cook. I know that she will be deeply missed. My deepest condolences. Love, Sara

Yesterday

I am so sorry to learn of Gingers passing. We had many connections. We went to high school together and lived in the same neighborhood-Sleepy Hollow Woods. Ginger served on the board of the nonprofit I worked for (Infant Toddler Family Day Care) and always provided words of wisdom. In earlier years she was a substitute child care provider for the organization. And in more recent years my husband and I would see Ginger and John walking at Greenspring Gardens. I often think of her when we walk there. In loving memory of a wonderful person.
