Joyce, Rosemary and Sandra, in times of sorrow, when words of comfort are needed most, it seems they are most difficult to say but just remember that you have friends that have you in constant prayer. Willie Mae and Peter Harris

My memories of Dobby go back many years to Hobson's Gas Station on Fayette St. in Martinsville, Va. He worked there and I picked up my papers there for my paper route. He was an imposing figure who was a bit older so I looked up to my cousin in more ways than one. Over time, we lost touch with one another, but when my daughter bought a house in NE DC, I somehow remembered that he too, lived in DC. Through the internet I found his number and he came over to visit me and my daughter. We immediately re-bonded and talked extensively about family and friends from back home. His easy going and articulate manner were consistent with my memories from long ago. He had a calming influence and personified knowledge, faith and wisdom. He would talk in a laid back rather quiet manner, but somehow would, in a subtle way, weave a joke into the mix, oft times referring to our Belcher family. He was proud of Howard, his sisters and his sons. He talked about how beautiful his wife is as well. Over the past couple of years, we would talk from time to time and I just thank God that I was able to reconnect with him. I even had intentions to visit and surprise him at his church but Covid perhaps prevented that. I knew that he had some health challenges and I also knew that his faith was strong. So Godspeed to my cousin whom I admired much for his intellect and wisdom. Rest well cuz.
