WALTER STERN (Age 90)
Of Arlington, VA died peacefully Wednesday, December 26, 2012. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jutta Stern, his daughter, Sonja Clelland and her husband Eric Clelland; two grandchildren, Mark and Ethan Clelland. Walter Stern was a graduate of Cornell University and had a distinguished career in the Foreign Service for 30 years. During his retirement years, he enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling, hiking in Obersdorf and playing tennis. Walter's love of life will be missed. Services and internment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.demainefuneralhomes.com

I learned of your passing just last week. I have fond memories of your telephone calls asking "What's new in FAS?" and getting together for lunch/coffee. Even though you retired years ago, FAS was near and dear to your heart and it was evident that you enjoyed the many years you served the Agency and its mission. Thank you for your friendship. I will miss you. Prayers for your beloved wife and family.
