WALTER JAMES WOOLWINE  Lieutenant General U.S. Army (Ret.)  
Walter J. Woolwine, 96, retired Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army, died Sunday, August 30, 2014 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2001. He is survived by his son, Walter J. Woolwine, and two daughters, Susan Woolwine McAdoo and Carol Ann Kesaris, six grandsons, two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Following graduation from Bluefield Junior College, he entered the U.S. Military Academy, Class of 1941. He also earned a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard University. He entered the U.S. Military Academy in 1937, and began an accomplished career as Company Commander 84th Infantry Division, heading up the European Command Procurement Office, helped negotiate the end of the occupation in Germany, designed the Army Supply System, planned the Cadet expansion at the U.S. Military Academy, Commanding General of U.S. Army Vietnam for Logistics receiving a Presidential Citation, Director of Logistics (J-4) Joint Chiefs of staff, and finally Commandant of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces where he once was a student. He will be interred with his wife Betty in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
