WELTON BLANTON DOBY JR
(Age 96)
Passed peacefully January 28, 2022. Born in Selma, Alabama. Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, a WWII veteran, and retired from the USPS. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Jamesetta R. Doby. He leaves behind his children Dr. Cheryl Doby - Copeland and Welton B. Doby III; (Dr. Ravita Maharaj); granddaughters, Amina Copeland - Mize (Criston Mize) and Sarita Singh (Mahadeo Singh); and seven great grandchildren, Asiya, Sulayman, and Isa Khokhar; Gabriella, Alejandra, and Victoria Singh, and Casimir Mize.
Family will receive friends at Metropolitan A.M.E., 1518 M St. NW, Washington, DC 20005, on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 10 a.m. until service begins at 11 a.m. All attendees will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Children's National Hospital in the name of Welton B. Doby, Jr.
