William Bethea Obituary

BETHEA

WILLIAM DALLAS BETHEA III Capt., U.S. Navy (Ret.)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Captain William Dallas Bethea III, a dedicated member of the United States Navy for 32 years. Dallas died peacefully at his home in Vienna, Virginia, at the age of 78 on January 10, 2024.

Beyond his military achievements, Dallas was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy. He shared nearly 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gayle (Garside) Bethea. His family was his anchor, and his legacy lives on through the bonds of love and strength he instilled in them.

In remembrance of Dallas, a memorial service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024. Information can be found here about his life, memorial service, and donations: https://www.moneyandking.com/obits/william-dallas-bethea-capt-usn-ret/.

Gayle and family, may your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. My late husband, Alex and I have fond memories of many fun times and laughter with Dallas and Gayle. A special Baltic Cruise with Dallas, Gayle and other friends and family was an experience we will not forget. And a trip to Vienna, Virginia where we stayed in their beautiful home, they were so gracious to take us on a tour of Washington, D.C. and a very special day trip to Fort Royal, Virginia for Alex to see where he was born and left shortly after his birth. It meant so much to Alex and me to be able to see all this with Dallas and Gayle. In loving memory of a wonderful person. May God´s Love be with you and your family and your memories help to comfort you.
Love, Donna

Gayle and your family, may your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. My late husband, Alex and I have fond memories of many years of fun times and laughter with Dallas and Gayle. A Baltic Cruise with Dallas, Gayle and a group of other friends and family was a very special experience for Alex and I. And our time spent with Dallas and Gayle in their home in Vienna was a time I will never forget. They were so kind and gracious to show us around Washington, D.C. and a beautiful day trip to Fort Royal, Virginia where Alex was born and left shortly after he was born and never had returned to see this beautiful place. It really meant so much to my husband. In loving memory of a wonderful person, we will miss you Dallas.
