WILLIAM JAMES DOUGHERTY, JR.  
Died December 16, 2011 of natural causes at his home in Alexandria, VA. Bill Dougherty was born in 1930 and grew up in Chevy Chase, DC. He graduated from Georgetown University and was a chemical engineer at the Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, MD. Bill was an avid chess player and book collector. He lived for many years in Oxon Hill, MD. He is survived by eight children; 11 grandchildren; his sister, Margaret Cahill, and his brother, Robert Dougherty. He is also survived by former wives Carole Bolster Dougherty and Mary Kimball King. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Alexandria on January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. He will be buried at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Alexandria.
