5 years too soon. As I sit and think of the wonderful times I have had as a little child and growing up, I am again thankful for the years God gave me with you. Our lives were full and so comfortable because you were a great provider and supporter of us all. We may not have always been the perfect family to others but to me we were perfect in everyway. You taught me the little things like brushing my teeth and how to shop and count my money before going to school. Tim and I had it all even when we play in the back seat of the car. Pretending it was a swimming pool and knowing all the time we were safe, where you dad was our day care provider. I remember bath at night and be ready Sunday morning for Sunday school but before we all left the house there was the morning prayer. I remember so well standing in the hall, everyone of us dressed for Church.
It seems like yesterday and yet so far away when I know you are no longer here. Rest in peace dad, mom, Teresa and Demetrius and so many more loved one. You are all missed. Thank You Lord for the LOVE. SugerLump. Thats me!

Hey Dad, the holidays are here and I am remembering how you set in the chair and filled our stockings on Christmas day. We treats were many and the love was felt. Tim and I I thing got the bulk because that just what I remember. I am so grateful to God that you were with as as many years as your were and thank you for all you did for us. You showed us love and understanding and why it was important to love God and Love the Church. I am getting back there. I have just been a little lost without you and mom. Its been mind bobbling to say the lease. Anyway, miss you much and remembering the love. Thank you again. I pray I will see you again in the heavens. God mercy upon us all. Your SugarLump.

It's another birthday without dad and I am happy to remember the last celebration we had. He scored a touchdown and shared his cake with the men and women of armed forces. Dad was a great dad. I remember so much and then so little because who can really remember 50 years of greatness. Yes, those times that we forget about the bad are all overwhelmed by the good. Dad I remember when we played jacks and you hit the bat and ball. Kids don't know that now, but I know it was fun. I remember going to the Government Printing Office to see the holiday displays and the trains. I loved that. Nothing was greater, but then I remember standing in front of you on Christmas day and how you filled our stockings with love. Candy, cookies, nuts, fruit and more love than anyone could ask for. But if I forget when we went to the grocery store and you showed us how to pay for our fruit and chips. Counting our coins, one by one. Then I remember how you took us to Sunday School. Yes you took us and did no send us. We sat up close to the front and how you blew your trumpet. Everybody know dad was there when your trumpet sounded. I loved it. I remember when you shouted and how your voice rang throughout the sanctuary and even more than that the real shout, it was back and forth and how your legs moved. Funny, I can laugh and smile about it all. Finally in all my memories I know I had a great dad and I praise God that you taught me how to love the Lord and that anything else would come if I just trusted in him. Well Dad, today, I love the Lord and trust him to lead me and direct my life. Happy Birthday, RIP.

Hey Family and Friends

There are so many memories of yesterday that I can't begin to write them down. I will share with you my most recent memories of me and dad during his last days at the hospital. Dad loved flowers and he always would love to smell them. When we brought mom flowers he would asked for his as well. So I remembered to also give him his flowers while he lived. In fact on his last day, the flowers were there smelling good and brining forth the beauty of nature that he loved so much. So when you thinks about this remember God show us the beauty that flowers bring and that Dad loved them where as he also loved the Lord. I shall miss him and will keep the memeories of yesterday deep in my heart. Love you family... Keep in touch. [email protected] or check me out on facebook under Meta Sherwood.

My wife and I have many memories of Elder Gwynn starting back in 1973 when we were "newcomers" to DC. He always had a friendly greeting from his porch or upstairs window and helped keep the block safe and clean. Our condolences to the family.
