William Henry Obituary

Colonel William A. "Bud" Henry, 84, of Vienna, Viginia passed away on October 6, 2025 after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Bud was born on November 2, 1940 to Myrtle and William "Bud" Henry in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from high school in 1958, Bud was recruited by the US Military Academy at West Point.
Bud travelled by himself to Highland Falls, NY and reported for duty. It was there at West Point that he met his future wife, Linda Davey. They married in the spring of 1966 and were true partners until Linda's death in 2009 from ovarian cancer.
Bud served with the 101st Airborne Division in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1966, first as a Rifle Platoon Leader and then as a Company Commander. After the war, Bud was stationed at Fort Ord, Fort Leavenworth and Fort Lee eventually becoming Battalion Commander of the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. After attending the National War College in Washington, DC, Bud would take on his last active-duty role as the Commander of the New Cumberland Army Depot.
Bud attended the University of Alabama for his MBA, MA and PhD in Business Administration. After the Army, Bud had a successful career in technology before retiring from Integic Corporation in 2006.
After retirement, Bud enjoyed spending time in his garden with his dogs. He especially enjoyed spending time and traveling with his companion, Dorothy, and his West Point Class of 1964 buddies. Bud always looked forward to visits from his grandson, Liam.
Bud was predeceased by his wife, Linda, his parents, Myrtle and Bud, his brother, Michael and his sister, Linda. Bud is survived by his son William "Bob" Henry, his daughter, Suzanne Henry, his grandson, Liam Henry, his sister-in-law, Gaye Zingler, his friend, Dorothy Deem, and many cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family members. Bud will be remembered fondly by many.
