William Kincaide Obituary

William Mark Darling Kincaide, a long-time resident of Arlington and McLean, VA died at his home in Napa, CA on November 11, 2024. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Gail of 48 years and son Todd (Adrienne), grandsons Eero and Aksel, and nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the US, Canada and the UK. Bill will forever be remembered for his love of family and friends, quick wit and sense of humor.

The son of William Lowell Darling and Doris Kincaide, Bill was born in St Paul, MN, and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He moved to Washington, DC in 1970 where he met his wife Gail Griffin from New Canaan, CT. A graduate of the Hackley School, Tarrytown, NY, Bill attended Washington & Lee University, and received a BA Degree in International Affairs from George Washington University. He served with the U.S. Army Security Agency in Frankfurt, Germany and studied at the Goethe Institute in Luneburg. His career was in education, most recently as Director of Administration for the Close-Up Foundation, Washington, DC.

There will be a celebration of Bill's life at a future date to honor the love and joy he brought to others and share memories.

Bill was one of the kindest men I have ever known. I worked with him at Close Up from 1981 to 1998.
