William Klinedinst Obituary
KLINEDINST WILLIAM H. KLINEDINST William H. "Bill" Klinedinst, 94, a veteran of World War II and founder of the Klinedinst Group of commercial real estate businesses, died December 19, 2011, at his home in Chevy Chase, MD. Mr. Klinedinst was active in the business from 1937 until his death. He was an avid golfer and bridge player. He was an active member of National Presbyterian Church and had served on the boards of the Wesley Seminary, Metropolitan Memorial Church and Ingleside at Rock Creek, a Presbyterian retirement community. Mr. Klinedinst was a native of Hanover, PA and attended Hanover High School where he played basketball. He was awarded a scholarship to the Williamson Trade School where he became a mason. After World War II, he studied accounting and law at George Washington University. Mr. Klinedinst served as a corpsman in the Navy during World War II on a tank landing ship (LST) in the Pacific Theatre, including the battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. Upon his return from World War II, he started his own masonry contracting business, which later evolved into the Klinedinst Group of commercial real estate businesses. He was a founding member of Concord/St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Bethesda, MD, and was a past member of Metropolitan Memorial Methodist Church in Washington, DC and longtime member of Congressional Country Club. His first marriage ended in divorce during World War II. In 1946, he married Lois A. Waddell, and later divorced in 1980. Beloved husband of 31 years to Florence K. Dupee; loving father of three children from his second marriage, daughter Pamela Klinedinst of Bethesda, MD, son Paul Klinedinst, and his wife, Deborah of Potomac, MD and son Mark Klinedinst, and his wife, Laurie, of Hattiesburg, MS; grandfather to Bradley Klinedinst, Amanda Klinedinst, Kelsey Klinedinst and Bretton Klinedinst; stepfather to Annadelia Franco and her husband, Craig, of Great Falls, VA and Elizabeth Poe and her husband, Scott, of San Diego, CA; and step-grandfather to William Franco, Evelyn Franco, Gunton Mark, Henley Mark and Dalton Poe. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Klinedinst and Ina Pearl Stambaugh; his sister, Eleanor Caroline Reed; and his brother, Robert Grabe Klinedinst. The family will receive friends at National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Avenue, NW Washington, D.C. on Monday January 9, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m., until services at 11 a.m. Private inurnment following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memoriam be given to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850 or the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades, 106 South New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063.
