William J. Preston, Sr. (Age 92)
On January 11, 2019 at his home in Potomac, MD. Loving husband of 67 years to Dorothy (nee Hylton). Devoted father to William J. "Joe" Preston, Jr. Born in Kermit, WV to the late James and Stella Preston (nee Patrick). Brother to the late Blanche (Leon) Young, Conrad (Mary), Clyde, James (Bootie), and John (Iva) Preston, and sister Lois (Bill) Booth. He has several nieces and nephews. Bill was a retired teacher from Montgomery County, and served honorably with the U.S. Navy in World War II. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Joseph Gawler's Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Ave. NW from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. Entombment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The 'Jewish Social Service Agency Hospice'. www.jssa.org

Mr. Preston was my 10 th grade typing teacher. He taught us so much more than typing. He had us dress and act and most important of all to think in a professional manner. He treated us like adults when we would have preferred to act like kids. I took his advanced class also and thanks to him I finished high school prepared to get a job to help pay my way thru college. I learned so many techniques that Co workers who had been to secretarial and business schools never learned. He gave us confidence in ourselves and I will always be grateful to him for that. My condolences to his family for the loss of such a great man.
