WILLIAM SPAULDING Obituary
WILLIAM RIDLEY SPAULDING Legislator, Engineer and Educator
Died on November 1, 2021 at 97. Following 22 years with the National Security Agency, he was elected to the first City Council after the restoration of limited Home Rule to DC. He served three terms as Ward 5 Representative. Preceded in death by one daughter Michelle Spaulding Howell (Arthur), he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dolores Hinton Spaulding; daughters Angelyn Flowers (Brian), Deirdre Spaulding-Yeoman (Emanuel); two grandchildren, Felicia F. Garrido (Pablo), A. Brian Flowers (Isla); two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Damien Garrido; and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He will lie in state on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the John Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC. Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Northeastern Presbyterian Church, 2112 Varnum St., NE, Washington, DC. Viewing 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Masks are required.
