William Insley Weinig

William "Bill" Insley Weinig, 87, of Ashburn, VA, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, after a battle with cancer. A proud veteran, he served as a drummer in the U.S. Air Force Ceremonial Band. He then worked as a civil servant, retiring from a distinguished career at the U.S. Dept. of Energy in 2007. Bill, who held a Bachelor's in Philosophy from American University, was known for his passions for antiques, music, and his collection of German beer steins. He shared these interests with his wife, Susan Dugan Weinig, whom he was married to for 35 years until her passing. They were devoted parents to children Alexandra and Emily.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Susan; his parents, Louis and Maurille Weinig; and his cousin, William Morgan. He is survived by his children, Alexandra (Allie) McGehee and Emily Summers; cousins, Rees Morgan and John (Chad) Morgan; and beloved granddaughters, Grace and Caroline.
