Thomas Daniel Grandy, 78, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Heartford House. He was born March 18, 1947, to the late Daniel Robinson Grandy and Elizabeth “Betty” Welch Grandy. Tom graduated from High School in Roanoke, VA with the class of 1965 where he was on the state champion golf team. He attended Virginia Tech where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. Tom married Dora Hinkle in 1969 and moved to Owensboro in 1971 with Pinkerton Tobacco, later working at National Southwire Aluminum before starting his own consulting business, Grandy & Associates in 1987. Tom was a gifted teacher in helping people in the trades to run their businesses in a profitable manner. He produced his own software program and authored and published a book titled “Profitable Labor Pricing for Trade Contractors. ” Tom conducted seminars in every state but two.
As a man of honesty and integrity, Tom faithfully served his clients and his family. A strong man of faith who came to know Jesus at a Cristello in 1976, he continued serving the Lord the rest of his life passing that heritage of faith on to his children and grandchildren. Tom loved and enjoyed all his grandchildren and great grandchild, telling them “Little Johnny” stories.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Dora Hinkle Grandy; three daughters, Tasha Alsup (Kevin) of Marion, IN, Daria Mayotte (Steve) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Cara Cecil (Jacob) of Lexington; eleven grandchildren, Kaleb Alsup, Isaac Alsup, Jon Alsup, Talia Alsup (Logan), Audrey Alsup, Ethan Mayotte, Jude Mayotte, Zane Mayotte, Shepherd Cecil, Vera Cecil, and Pax Cecil; one great grandchild, Banks; sister, Linda Klingler (David); two nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Saturday, October 4 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12 noon.
