I have worked with John in political consulting in Ukraine in 2004-2007. He was more than just a political expert - he became a friend, even a father figure for me. I have learned a lot from him. Will be forever thankful to him and his wife Julia.

Congressman John Conlan of Arizona came to Boise to speak at the Governor's Prayer Breakfast years ago. He invited me to meet with him in his hotel room that day. In the course of our conversation he explained the difference to me between "prejudice" and "bias". Prejudice is not good, because it is pre-judical, i.e. arriving at a point of view without considering all the evidence. Bias, on the other hand, is when you hold a viewpoint after considering the evidence. Everyone has biases. It is not a bad thing to be biased, but we want to be biased with the best bias. I never forgot his explanation.
