David Roufs Obituary

Roufs, David K.

Roufs, David K. 69, Weston, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2016 at the Rennes Health and Rehab Center under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Services.

David was born January 10, 1947 to the late Kenneth and Lorraine Roufs. After graduating high school in 1965, he married Laurie Haarstad on November 23, 1968. David is survived by his wife Laurie Roufs, three daughters, Michele (Mark) Sherwood, Mandy (Kim) Lemke, and Shaunna Roufs. David has three grandchildren: Cheyenne Laatsch, Victoria Lemke, and Madeline Lemke; sister Louise (Gary) Neidert, brother Daniel (Denice) Roufs, brother-in-law Michael Trautmann, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Martha Trautmann, and his parents Kenneth and Lorraine Roufs.

David owned his own business, Dave Roufs Mobile Home Service and Repair for over 40 years and was known to many as a jack of all trades. He was also famous for his grilling techniques and his ability to feed the masses. He had a natural gift for storytelling and the ability to make you laugh. He had a kind heart and would give anyone who asked the shirt off his back.

David chose to donate his body to the Medical College of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for use in education. At this time the family is planning a Celebration Of Life for David this summer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rennes Health and Rehab Center and Ministry Home Care and Hospice Services for the generous care he received.

Laurie and family, We are so sorry to hear about Dave. He was a good friend. He and Dan both stood up in our wedding. Hard to believe it was 50 years ago 9/11/1965!! We had lots of good times in our younger years. It was always good to see him when Gar and Louise would rent a cottage on the Chain in Waupaca every summer. We always had lots of laughs. You all have our sympathy. Love you, Jim and Sherry Neidert

To the Family:
People pass in and out of each others lives every day, some never really known. Others, however, make a connection. Please know that you will always be in our hearts for the joy you brought others during what had to be the most difficult time in your lives. You gals made the "connection". I know you made David proud. We will miss you all. ps. "Powerball Wednesday" will never be forgotten.

Laurie, Mandy, and Shauna, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories of Dvid growing up. I can't recall how many times he came to our rescue when our heat was out, pipes froze, carpet needed replacing...you name it. It wasn't uncommon to hear him rummaging in our kitchen for a cup of coffee in the dead of night when he was called to fix yet another furnace or leak. Not to mention his EPIC pig roast :) May the Lord give you peace in his passing. My sincerest condolences. Robin (Schneider) Drury
