Elizabeth Sahr Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Sahr, 91, Wausau, died peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2016 at her home.
She was born July 5, 1925 in the town of Hewitt, daughter of the late Melvin and Lena (Neitzke) Madden. On June 15, 1946, she married John Sahr Sr. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2015.
Elizabeth enjoyed her role as a homemaker and stay at home mom. She was an excellent baker and kept busy baking wedding cakes, birthday cakes, cookies and was famous for her caramel rolls and donuts. Among some of her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed traveling, camping, flowers and her beautiful rock garden her husband lovingly made for her to enjoy.
Elizabeth was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the PCCW and volunteered for many church activities.
Survivors include, four children, John Sahr Jr., Wausau, Dale (Cindy) Sahr, Geneseo, Ill., Judy (Michael) Pingel, Wausau and Jean Sahr, Wausau; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, John Sr., she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Karen Sahr; one sister, Florence DeJong; and one brother, James Madden.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch, Rev. Robert Schaller and Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
