Lana Welch Obituary

Welch, Lana (Szitta)

Lana (Szitta) Welch age 85, died peacefully on Sunday April 6, 2014 at the Fox River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Appleton.

Lana was born April 29, 1928 in Bryant, Wisconsin daughter of the late John and Agnes (Lyndon) Szitta. Lana was a teacher for several years at various schools in the Wausau area. She was united in marriage to Warren Welch in 1973. The couple lived at the base of Rib Mountain until they retired and moved to the Appleton area in 2005. Lana was a Ping Pong Champion, and enjoyed gardening, reading, writing, painting and traveling with her husband.

Lana is survived by her two sisters-in-law, Ruby Szitta, Antigo; and Darlene Welch, Black Creek; and by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren in June of 2011, four brothers, Frank, John, August and Ernest Szitta, two sisters, Josephine Dallman and Betty Dzorik, and by two sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Per Lana's request no services will be held. Lana donated her body to the UW-Madison School of Medicine Anatomy Department.

Lana's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Fox River Nursing and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care given unto Lana and her family.

Eternal rest to Lana. I hired Lana to teach in our school at Marathon many years ago. I remember her as a good teacher.
