Raymond Timm Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Timm, 86, Tomahawk, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, under hospice care at the home of his son, Fuzzy.

Ray was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Shepley, the son of Fred and Meta (Brumm) Timm. At age 5, Ray moved to Tomahawk. He attended a one room school, Roosevelt School and graduated from Tomahawk High School. During high school he played basketball and was involved in boxing. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1943 to 1946. He was a Signalman on the ship Panament, and served both stateside and in Okinawa. After his discharge from the Navy, Ray played competitive baseball until the age of 44 including 4 years with the Merrill Rangers, winning several State Championships. He married Irene Dolan on April 27, 1946, in Duluth, Minn. She passed away in 1996. He was employed with Owens-Illinois for 47 years, retiring in 1993. While enjoying retirement, Ray attended both 1997 and 1998 Superbowls. Ray was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tomahawk.

Survivors include his children, Mike Timm, Tomahawk, Timothy "Fuzzy" (Sue) Timm, Green Bay, Patti Sue (Herb) Myers, Mountain, James "Meathead" (Diane) Timm, Tomahawk; brothers, Glenn (Virginia) Timm, Tomahawk, Fred (Bernadette) Timm, Irma; sisters, Bonnie Daigle, Tomahawk, Hazel Currier, Ariz., Sally Roehrborn, Milwaukee; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the family of his long-time companion, Monica Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene; long-time companion, Monica Hanson; brothers, Rod and Dale Timm; sisters,Betty Wurl and Rose Johnston, and daughter-in-law, Janet.

Funeral Services with Military Rites for Ray Timm will be held Monday at 11 a.m., March 19, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. The Rev. Mark Schoenherr will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., March 18, at Krueger Family Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of services at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk.

The family would like to thank Virginia at Unity Hospice in Green Bay and Sue and Fuzz for all of their compassionate care.

Mike, "Fuzzy", Patti Sue & "Meathead" & families: Sorry to hear of Ray's passing.
You have our sincerest condolences.
"Cubs Manager Ray" I have great memories of playing baseball for your dad & the "Tomahawk Cubs". We played good ball & had great post game times. Your dad is now on a Great Team, he'll be keeping that proud, watchful eye on all of you!!! God Bless all of the wonderful
