Sara Lewitzke Obituary

Sara Jane O' Donnell Lewitzke

Wausau - Sara (Sally) Lewitzke of Wausau, WI, formerly of Oak Park, IL passed away on October 11, 2018 after a long illness. She was born on May 22, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of John and Helen (Kyne) O'Donnell.

Sally is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, Charlie Lewitzke; Sara (Andrew) Fuchs Lee of Pasadena, CA and CDR Steven (Karyn) Fuchs of Eagan, MN; her grandchildren Samuel, Rachel and Jack Yeager; Joshua, Caitlin, Hanna and Brennan Lee; Anna, Claire, Caleb and Reed Fuchs; her sisters Mary Ellen 0'Shea and Ann (Robert) O'Keefe and her nieces and nephews. Children from her husband's side, Mark Lewitzke and Marcia (Mike) Strandberg of Wausau, WI; grandchildren Molly Lewitzke and Kaylee (Patrick) Kavanagh; Luke Strandberg. Sally was preceded in death by her parents and daughter LT Tracey Ann Fuchs (Stephen) Yeager of Warsaw, IN.

Sally was known for her generous, loving, thoughtful spirit that touched many. She had a huge heart and worked for years as a Title One aide for children with special needs in Wausau District Elementary Schools. She also volunteered for many years in various community organizations and churches (to include Women of Zion) helping those in need. Sally loved Mother Teresa and her life goal was to live out one of her beloved quotes, "Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile." Sally's prayer was to inspire others to live the same.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 6th Street, Wausau. Rev. Dr. Steven K. Gjerde will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sally's name to Zion Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

A very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Rennes Health and Rehab (Weston) and Tender Reflections for the loving care they provided Sally.

Charlie,
The first time I met Sally, she gave me so many compliments. I realize that this was just the type of person Sally was. Selfless and caring, she truely was a beautiful person inside and out. We will truely miss her.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
