Keith Freese, 84, of Waverly died on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in Waterloo.
Keith Alan Freese was born on August 18, 1941, the son of Edwin and Emma Jane (Studer) Freese in Aplington, Iowa. He graduated from Dumont High School in 1959. On October 5, 1963, he was united in marriage to Connie Smith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Keith worked as a wholesale fertilizer salesman in addition to farming and raising sheep.
The couple enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona, where Keith pursued his passion for four-wheeling. He became well known for giving guided tours to friends, sharing his knowledge of the desert's trails, historical landmarks, and scenery with others.
He had a love for classic cars, especially Mustangs and Edsels, which he restored with great care and skill. His work in the garage was more than a hobby-it was a reflection of his dedication, craftsmanship, and joy in preserving the past. He had an incredible gift for recognizing classic cars, able to name the make and model of nearly any vehicle he saw.
He had a lifelong love of dogs, sharing his days with his faithful companions who were never far from his side. In later years, he delighted in the company of many "granddogs," treating each one with the same warmth and affection. His bond with them reflected his gentle spirit and his gift for finding joy in the simple, everyday moments of life.
Survivors are his wife, Connie of Waverly; daughter, Janine (Scott) Johnson of Waverly; son, Kelly (Patricia) Freese of Waverly; 10 grandchildren, Kayla (Jesse) LowDog-Garrison, Ryan (Olivia) Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Rebekah (Evan) Bodermann, Abigail (Guilherme) Freese de Barros Mello, Andrew Freese, Deborah Freese, Samuel Freese and Stevan Freese; brother, Mark Freese of Chandler, Arizona, and sister, Joyce Page of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Rodger Page.
