Loren Pothast Obituary
Loren John Pothast was born on March 22, 1940, the son of Lloyd and Hlida (Brase) Pothast in Waverly. He was baptized on April 14, 1940, and confirmed on April 11, 1954, both at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. He attended country school thru the 8th grade and graduated from Plainfield High school in 1958. On April 9, 1961, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Schilling at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Loren worked at Waterloo Industries from 161 until retiring in September 1993 due to suffering a stroke.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth Pothast, of Shell Rock; daughter, Lori (Scott) Frerichs, of New Hampton; two sons, Mark (Theresa) Pothast, of Shell Rock, and Michael Pothast, of Shell Rock; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Kermit (Harriet) Pothast, of Fredricksburg, and Merwin (Wendy) Pothast, of Waverly; and sister, Karen (Doug) Alexander, of Prole. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock with Pastor Kim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock and also an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock and online condolences for Loren may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
