Louis Staudt Obituary

Louis John Staudt, age 58, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died Monday, November 12, 2018, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Lou was born on November 2, 1960, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Russell and Betty Jo (Parcher) Staudt. He was raised in Marble Rock, Iowa and attended and graduated from Charles City High School in 1980. After graduating he started training for his career in law enforcement by helping-out at the Floyd County Sheriffs Department. Lou then attended Hawkeye Technical Institute Law Enforcement program in Waterloo graduating in 1982. He then went to work for the City of Shell Rock Police Department as Sargent working his way up over the years to become Chief of Police. On March 15, 2008, Lou was united in marriage to Kathy Brown at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Roseville, Iowa.
Lou was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Roseville. He was an avid hunter and belonged to National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, and White Tails Unlimited. Lou's greatest enjoyment was time with family and friends, however, he also liked fishing where he would make yearly trips to Canada and Northeast Iowa Trout Fishing.
Lou's memory is honored by: his wife Kathy Staudt of Shell Rock; mother, Betty Jo Staudt of Marble Rock; four children, Cody Staudt (Fiance' Jessica) of Prior Lake, MN, Courtney Staudt (significant other Dan) of Frederika, Chase (Shea) Goddard of Shell Rock, and Cole Staudt (fiancée Nicole) of Shell Rock; daughter-in-law, Nicole (Nate) Steere of Nashua; twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine (Jerry) Kennedy of Lakeville, MN and Lynn (Todd) Teeter of Fort Calhoun, NB; and three brothers, Lyle (Dawn) Staudt of Charles City, Leslie (Amy) Staudt of Marble Rock, and Lee (Vicky) Staudt of Woodbury, MN. He was preceded in death by: his father; a sister, Jaqueline Staudt in infancy; and two brothers, Patrick and Steven Staudt in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock where the family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Roseville with Monsignor Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Roseville. Memorials may be directed to Lou's family and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
