CHARLES IVAN ADKINS

CHARLES IVAN ADKINS Charles Ivan Adkins was born to Cader Dell Adkins and Nettye Elizabeth Appling Adkins on February 28, 1932 at home-in Forreston, Texas. He attended Forreston schools. He was a long time member at Ferris Heights United Methodist Church. He was a Master Mason for 75 years of the Masonic Lodge# 90 of Waxahachie. He served as a past Grand Master and he tutored many men into the Masons. He retired from LTV in Grand Prairie after 41 years as a scheduler and a supervisor. Charles was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He spoiled his wife and children and grandchildren. Ethel Belle did not know to how to pump gas, change a tire or mow a yard. His kindness and compassion served as an example for his entire family. He was known as Mr Whatburger and spent many mornings at coffee at the Whataburger before he was no longer able to drive. He was preceded in death by his parents Cader Dell and Nettye Elizabeth Appling Adkins; his wife of 52 years, Ethel Belle Thompson Adkins; his son, Chuck (Charles Mason) Adkins; granddaughters Hannah Naomi Adkins Maness and Chanan Joy Adkins Townson; brothers VC (Victor Columbus) Adkins, Brud (Glenn Hunt) Adkins, Little (Jesse Thurman) Adkins, "Big" (James Herman) Adkins, Billy Gray (William Gray) Adkins, Bunie (John Bunyan) Adkins, and Junie (Cader Dell, Junior) Adkins; sisters (Nettie Elizabeth) Adkins Brown, and Tootsie (Mary Alyce) Adkins Chaney. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Adkins and Shannon Adkins Childs of Waxahachie, Texas; sister Carolyn Ann "Carrie" Adkins Arnold of Caruth, Texas; grandsons Habakkuk (Samantha) Adkins of Abeline, Jacob Adkins of Waxahachie; granddaughters Arwyn Childs Gunn (Tye), Eden Adkins, and Alyssa Childs Yancey (Kyle Brown) of Waxahachie; his beloved great-grandchildren, Elijah and Ainsley Adkins of Abeline, Gavin Childs, Aaron Yancey, Audrey and Annalee Townson of Waxahachie, Tx, Landon Maness of Arkansas, Samuel, Cheyenne, Hudson, Jax, Peyton, and Kylie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Interment at the Forreston Cemetery, Forreston, Texas.
