Betty Preece Obituary

BETTY SUE PREECE, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on September 28, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on November 17, 1940, to Henry Stewart Porter and Mary Helen Porter.
Betty was a proud graduate of Fort Gay High School. Shortly after, she married the love of her life and true soulmate, James "Jim" Jackson Preece. Together, they shared 65 beautiful years of marriage.
Betty and Jim were blessed with one daughter, Carla Klosterman (James) of Dayton, Ohio; three cherished granddaughters, Maddison (Casey) of Laura, Ohio, Elyse Weber (Kyle) of Tipp City, Ohio, and Maryn Klosterman of Vandalia, Ohio; and five precious great-grandchildren Zara, Scarlett, Forrest, Harper, and Jaxson who were the joy of her life.
Betty is preceded in death by eleven of her siblings and survived by seven. She spent many years as a hardworking factory employee and a dedicated farm wife, pouring her heart into both her work and her family. She had a gift for hospitality, welcoming loved ones into her home and filling the table with delicious meals. Her chicken and dumplings, sour cream cookies, and cinnamon rolls were legendary among family and friends.
A skilled gardener and canner, Betty often said, "I don't know a vegetable I haven't canned or frozen." She left most of the livestock work to Jim, though she once famously allowed a runt piglet to stay inside during a snowstorm at least until it took over the laundry room.
Betty also had a flair for style and a love of treasure hunting. She could often be found on Saturday mornings driving her beautiful Cadillac, Big Red gum in hand, stopping at estate sales and searching for bargains.
As a lifelong believer and the daughter of a pastor, Betty's faith guided her every step. She began each morning with her Bible and was deeply involved in her church community serving in women's groups, preparing meals, singing in the choir, and teaching teenagers about Jesus. Her greatest legacy is the faith she modeled for her daughter and granddaughters, showing them the reality of our Lord and inspiring them to know the one true Savior.
Betty will be forever loved and missed. Yet her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with the Porter clan at the feet of Jesus, and that Heaven has grown even more lively with her presence.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 3 at Yatesville Memorial Gardens, in Louisa, KY. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, Ohio.
