Chrystal Evans Obituary
Born August 4, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., to Leland and Marjorie (Fowler) Russell. Chrystal lived a life centered on faith, family, and service. After graduating from the High School of Commerce, she worked in retail, tax and accounting before devoting herself to her greatest joys, being a Bible educator and homemaker. She was known for her honesty, compassion, and steady faith.
In September 1964, she married her husband, Bill Evans, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith.
Chrystal was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert; and her sisters, Rosemary and Patricia. She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Scott (Fanny) Evans and Penny Smith; grandchildren, Steven, Tanner, Makenzie, Kooper, Devi, and Logan; many great-grandchildren; and her brother, Thomas Russell.
Chrystal loved cooking, reading, and spending time with children. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she found great meaning in sharing her faith and teaching others about God's Kingdom.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1530 Pleasant Valley Dr., Waterloo, IA.
