Daniel Kalkwarf Obituary

Daniel Louis Kalkwarf, 66, died on August 26, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona after an extended illness.

Daniel was born on July 21, 1959 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Gerhard (George) Kalkwarf and Sally Jane Grandy Kalkwarf. He graduated from Central High School and earned a bachelor's degree in marketing.

Daniel was a restaurant manager, a small business owner, and a farmer. Dan was an avid cribbage player and music lover. He was a creative person who sketched, painted, and even sculpted. He also loved fishing, hunting, and other outdoor sports, but most of all he loved his family.

Daniel is preceded in death by his mother and father and his two brothers Robert and Gerard.

Daniel is survived by his brother, Dr. John Kalkwarf and his sister Sara Olson. He is also survived by his son Preston Kalkwarf and his daughter Madison Kalkwarf, and two grandsons, Amias and Oso.

A memorial breakfast will be held in Tucson on August 31. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to ArtForce Iowa in Des Moines. Please send any photos and memorabilia from Dan's life to [email protected].
