Dennis was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on July 4, 1940 and graduated in 1958 from Dayton High School where he was active in sports. He went to college in Nebraska where broke his leg playing football.
He joined the Air Force during the Cuban Crisis and was stationed in Louisiana. After his service he went to college in Oregon and earned his degree. He then focused on the insurance business. He moved back to Iowa for a while and then moved to Colorado.
In Colorado, he started Combined Risk Services a property, casualty and health insurance business. He loved the mountains and had a cabin there for 17 years where many family celebrations were enjoyed. He was an avid golfer and loved the game. Dennis loved dogs, he will be dearly missed by Lakota and Hawkeye who loved him very much.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Lyla Gambow, his children Stephanie (Mitch) Moore of Leadville and Andrew (Lacey) Kalkwarf of Castle Rock, 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his sister Joyce (Gordon) Erickson and his two step sons Tom Burns and Mathew Burns. His brother in law James Gambow who was like a brother to him.
Dennis loved people and had the biggest heart. He always wanted to do what was best for others. He was a very spiritual man and meditated to the Lord daily. He will be dearly missed by all.
