Dennis Wayne DeBerg, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at his home in Saint Cloud, Florida, surrounded by his children, Abbie and Jacob.
Born on February 13, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, Dennis was the son of Donald DeBerg and Bette (Glass) DeBerg. He attended Waterloo Community Schools and graduated from Columbus High School in 1968. Following high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps before earning an associate degree from the Hawkeye Institute of Technology.
Dennis dedicated his professional life to public service. He spent three decades with the Iowa Department of Corrections, where he focused on rehabilitation programs aimed at helping individuals rebuild their lives. His commitment extended beyond the correctional system as he led several outreach initiatives with local schools to support and guide the youth in his community.
He is survived by his daughter Abbie and son Jacob. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Barry DeBerg; and his beloved wife of 44 years, Renee DeBerg.

Denny,
Coached our first grade school wrestling team at Blessed Sacrament grade school 1968. He was supportive, dedicated, and made our initial exposure to his sport FUN. Makes me smile on reflection. RIP Twiggy!!
