Donald Tomanka Obituary
Donald Wayne Tomanka, Sr.
May 6, 1936 – January 18, 2024
Don passed away at Oak Park Estates in Cedar Falls. He was born May 6, 1936, in Prague, OK, son of Louis and Alice (Luster) Tomanka. After graduating from Cedar Rapids Wilson High School in 1956, Don was a manager for Me-Too and Hy-Vee grocery stores. He served in the National Guard.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beth; daughter, Pam; grandson, Myles Trout; great-grandson, Dane Aaden Myhr; and sister, Alice "Nita" Deaver. He is survived by his sons: Don Tomanka of Denver, IA, Ron (Terri) Tomanka of Mansfield, TX and Scott Berg of Modesto, CA; daughter, Constance Trout of Marion, IA; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard (Judy) Tomanka of Shawnee, OK.
Don's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery of Cedar Rapids. Visitation from 4:00-6:00 Wednesday evening at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Oak Park Estates of Cedar Falls, UnityPoint Hospice of Waterloo or Dementia Friendly Cedar Valley. More information at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.

I worked at Hy-Vee on Byron with Don in the early seventies. I stayed at his house and babysat the two boys while they were on vacation. He was a wonderful man, always a smile on his face.
