June 14, 1936 - August 29, 2025
Harrison Dean Paup passed away on August 29th in Johnston, Iowa from complications of COPD. Dean was born June 14,1936 in Glendale, Calif. to Mary Naomi Paup and Dean Mumby Paup. He moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1945, graduated from Cedar Falls High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI).
He married Wilma Jean Wilson on June 16,1956 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. He was a realtor with Trapp and Wood Realtors and later opened his own firm as H. Dean Paup Realtors and then as Century 21 Paup Realtors. He served as President of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Board of Realtors and was named "Realtor of the Year" in 1979. He had GRI and CRI designations and served on the board of Heritage Homes and built Wick Homes as Paup Construction. He belonged to multiple real estate associations and was a member of the Cedar Falls Rotary Club. After moving to Plano, Texas in 1984, he worked at Remax Realtors until his retirement and then worked at Lowe's for seven years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating, hunting and often traveled to Minnesota and Canada on fishing trips and vacations with friends and family.
Dean is survived by his wife, Wilma and four children, Susan (John) Clark of McKinney, Texas, Kathleen (Tim) Goranson of Johnston, Iowa, Douglas (Sheila) Paup of Orange, Conn., Ross (Vicky) Paup of Alpharetta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Benjamin (Racquel) Hardesty of Canyon, Texas, Jackson (Jessie) Hardesty of Prosper, Texas, Lauren Paup Alarcon of New Canaan, Conn., Harrison Paup of Brooklyn, N.Y., John Goranson of Johnston, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Nathanial, Adalee and Olivia Hardesty, Chloe Paup Alarcon, and Charlie Hardesty; siblings, William (Sara) Paup of Cedar Falls, Iowa and half-sister Lisse Mitchell of Little Rock, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. Memorials may be sent to UnityPoint Des Moines Hospice. Online condolences at www.richardsonfuneralservice.com.
