Lori Hughes Obituary
October 14, 1964 - February 18, 2025
Lori Diane Hughes, age 60, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on February 18, 2025. She was born on October 14, 1964, to Bonnie Hughes and the late William Hughes.
Lori graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School, Class of 1983, and attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She spent several years working in the restaurant industry as a hostess and server, where she met Rob Kelly. They married in 1994 and welcomed their son, Hugh Kelly, before divorcing in 2004. More recently, Lori found joy in caring for animals and had spent her time walking dogs in the Boston area.
She is survived by her loving mother, Bonnie Hughes; her son, Hugh Kelly (Cortney); her cherished granddaughter, Daphne Kelly; and her brother, Brian Hughes (Ann), along with their children, Josh Hughes, Jackie Murphy (Stephen), Jenny Hughes, and Jill Hughes.
Lori was preceded in death by her father, William Hughes, and her brothers, Craig and David Hughes.
She will be remembered for her love of animals, nature, fashion, all things lemons, and the immense joy she found in being a grandmother. A graveside prayer service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa, on July 11 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Angell - Animal Medical Center at mspca.org in Lori's honor.
