Mary Margaret Timpany-Clapp

Mary Margaret Timpany-Clapp, 89, died on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
She was born on August 6, 1934, in De Pere, WI, daughter of Lawrence and Margaret Carney. She graduated from De Pere High School in 1952 and from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1956 with a degree in Business Education. She received her MA at the University of Northern Iowa in 1956. She retired from teaching in the Business Department at Hawkeye Community College in 1996.
Mary married Gordon Timpany on August 23, 1958, in De Pere. He died on August 1, 2000. She married Neil Clapp on July 30, 2005, in Cedar Falls.
Mary was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls where she had served as an elder and was active in a church circle. She knit many lap robes for shut-ins and caps and scarves for missions. She was also a member of the PEO Chapter MV.
She is survived by her husband, Neil, of Cedar Falls; son, Mark of Cedar Falls; daughter, Carrie (Matthew) Hill of Flat Rock, NC; grandson, Justin (Melissa) Timpany; great-grandson, Logan of Cowley, WU; sister, Kay (Bob) Braun; nieces and nephews, all of Cincinnati.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Diamond Event Center in Cedar Falls with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Western Home Foundation, First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, or a charity of choice. Online condolences at www.richardsonfuneralservice.com.

Mary was the best Mother-in-law, I am thankful she was a part of my life. I enjoyed our annual vacations and especially the trips to Hilton Head Island. Mary was a remarkable woman who will be remembered with love.
