Michael Hayes, aged 70, passed away on September 6, 2025, at his home in Waterloo, Iowa.

Mike was born April 2nd, 1955, in Waterloo, IA and he graduated from Cedar Falls High School. He married Sabrina Schumacher on August 2nd, 1975. Although they later divorced, they remained close friends throughout the years. Mike dedicated himself to his work as an elevator installer and service repair man with Econol Stairway Lift for 27 years. He continued his career at Schumacher Elevator for another 18 years until his retirement in 2018, marking a long and respected tenure in his field.

Mike had a profound appreciation for the great outdoors. Whether it was riding his bike with friends or hunting in the fields with his dogs, his passion for nature and movement was evident to all who knew him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Cleone Adams and Russell Hayes. He is survived by his loving family, including his sister Sherri Rogers, half-brother Scott Sweet (Trudy), daughters Alyse and Melanie Hayes, granddaughters Jenae Jenkins and Stella Perez, and his great-grandchildren Marley and Bodie Fenter. His legacy lives on through them, as well as through the countless friendships he made over the years.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on September 27, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Eagles Club in Cedar Falls. Friends and family are encouraged to bring photos and memories to share as we honor and remember a life well-lived.
