She went on to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA, and graduated from the Executive Secretary Program. Penny and her husband, Gregory Adam Garcia, made their home in Independence, where she worked as an executive secretary at the Mental Health Institute for 18 years before retiring due to her health.
