Richard Meyer Obituary

Richard S. Meyer, 83, of Evansdale, Iowa, died on December 18, 2025, in Waterloo, Iowa.
He was born on December 30, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Milton and Florence (Martin) Meyer. Richard married Judith Herbsleb on June 4, 1960, sharing more than 65 years of marriage.
Richard worked as a Met Transit bus driver for over 27 years, retiring after decades of dedicated service. After retirement, he enjoyed a part-time job delivering school buses for School Bus Sales.
Above all else, Richard cherished time spent with his family. He loved traveling with his wife, children, and grandchildren, creating lasting memories on many trips to Disney World and visits to several national parks. A true movie enthusiast, Richard loved watching films and could happily talk about anything related to movies. He also enjoyed bike riding and exploring local happenings, especially IrishFest, which he looked forward to each year.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith (Herbsleb) Meyer; his children Monte (Kim) Meyer of Riverton, Utah, Jeff Meyer of Arcadia, Florida, Jennifer (Mark) West of Ankeny, Iowa, and Deb Meyer of Waterloo; his grandchildren Solana, Ryan, Taylor, Zachary, and Nicholas; and his great-grandchildren Cohen, Jackson, Evelyn, and Benjamin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Richard will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed so very much.

I´m so sorry for your loss. Richard was such a good man. I loved his smile and soft chuckle. I remember he bough one of the first VCRs back in the 80s and we´d would watch movies in your basement. Many Met bus rides all over Waterloo, Cedar Falls and back to Evansdale. Dave and I loved running into him and Judy at local events. Always greeted with a smile and a hug. Praying for your family, sending love and hugs.
