Robert McMurrin Obituary
Robert Dale McMurrin was born June 1, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Francis "Mae" (White) McMurrin. He attended school in Cedar Rapids and later in his childhood the family relocated to Otterville. This is where all the legendary McMurrin stories originated. Bob was employed at John Deere in Waterloo for 30 years. He has been enjoying his retirement since October 1994. Bob lived large and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bootlegging his fruit.
Bob is survived by his four children, Michael (Steve) McMurrin of Des Moines IA, Robert (Jennifer) McMurrin of Hazleton IA, Heather McMurrin of Bolingbrook IL, Christopher McMurrin of Bolingbrook IL, seven grandchildren, Kreston Caldwell-McMurrin, Chelsea Carter, Gage Davis-McMurrin, Tyrique McMurrin, Kathryn McMurrin, Nyali McMurrin, and Alexi McMurrin; two step-grandchildren, Blake Hoth and Brady Clark and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger McMurrin of Waterloo IA, DeWayne McMurrin of Stanley IA, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Karen S. and Joyce, five brothers, Wilbur, Albert, Neil, Donny, and Norman, a sister, Pauline, and a granddaughter, Bailey.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will occur on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at The Crow Bar in Independence from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. Condolences can be sent to the family at 1203 Indiana Ave, Hazleton IA 50641.
