CEDAR FALLS–Robert Eugene Verly, 73, died on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Thuesen Cottage, Western Home Communities, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 11, 1950, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Elmer and Ruby (Dirks) Verly. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1968. He served in the Army Reserve from 1971 to 1976. On June 28, 1975, he was united in marriage to Parma Frances Rohner. Throughout his career, Bob owned and operated Bob's Cemetery Lettering and Granite by Design, a monument lettering company, and worked at John Deere, retiring in 2005 as a Product Development Specialist.
Bob is survived by his wife, Parma, of Cedar Falls; son, Timothy Verly of Cedar Falls; daughter, Jillian Spence and husband Dan, and their sons Gavin and Caleb of Sharon, MA; brother, John Verly and wife Debbie of Marco Island, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Jondle; brother, Gary, who died in infancy.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls.
