Ruby Ann Wegener
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Ruby.
Ruby Ann Wegener was given life by her Creator and was born on March 10, 1939, in St. Charles, Missouri, the child of Herman and Lucy (Lindemann) Schroeder. On March 26, 1939, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, Missouri. In April of 1952, she publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed; she received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood. Ruby graduated from Hazelwood High School in 1956. She then attended St. Paul Junior College in Concordia, Missouri and graduated from Concordia Teachers' College in River Forest, Illinois. On September 15, 1962, she received the gift of a beloved companion in her spouse, Thomas Coates Wegener. She was blessed with the gift of four children and 14 grandchildren.
God blessed Ruby's life with numerous special people as she served God in her various vocations. She was a gem at making our house a home. She spent summers gardening and canning the products for the family. She enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's extracurricular activities and was always ready for a game of Pinocle. She served the church alongside her husband as missionaries in the Philippines and in the churches in Hubbard, Iowa and Waterloo, Iowa. Ruby used her creative talents as she taught Sunday School, planned fellowship activities and made cards for family, friends, and church members. She served as the organist at Faith Lutheran Church in Waterloo and College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. After her children were grown, she worked at Champion Screen Print and Design and Powers Manufacturing.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Thomas of Cedar Falls; children, Rebekah (Brian) Wagner of Waterloo, Rhoda (Rev. Darryl Hannenberg) of Montrose, Colorado, James (Melissa) Wegener of Bettendorf and Rev. John (Heidi) Wegener of Dike; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Carol Hillmann, Margie Meiser both of St. Charles, Missouri, Gilbert (Linda) Schroeder of House Springs, Missouri and a sister-in-law, Linda Schroeder of Hazelwood, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roger Schroeder.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister Ruby.

Some of my favorite things about Ruby were her sweet smile and cheerful nature. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to call her friend!

Rejoicing with you knowing Ruby is with her Savior. I did so enjoy bowling on the senior league with Ruby! She had a lot of tips to share, especially when we weren't winning. Her reply, "We're working on our handicap! We did have fun! Jan Miller
