Sandra Jean Runyan, 77, of Cedar Falls, died on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Deery Suites at Western Home Communities surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 13, 1946, in Cedar Falls, IA, the daughter of Leo and Maxine (Bowers) Mayo Jr. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1965. She married Sam Runyan and together they had three sons. They later divorced. She worked as an inspector at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids and as an optometry assistant at Eye Care Associates in Cedar Falls before retirement.
Sandra is survived by her three sons, Chris Runyan of Cedar Falls and grandchildren, Meghan (Andrew) Bruns and Jessie (Tanner) Steere; Josh (Tana) Runyan of Cedar Falls and grandchildren, Abby and Sydney Runyan; Anthony (Leah) Runyan of Cedar Falls and grandchild, Olivia Runyan; former daughter-in-law, Becky Runyan of Cedar Falls; and brother, Gary (Joanne) Mayo of Cedar Falls.
Sandra's biggest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed Sunday girls' day, holiday's and getting together with friends. She also had a love for all animals including her beloved dog Lilly Girl.
The family would like to thank St Croix Hospice for all of their care and support.
A family-directed celebration of life will be held at the Cedar Falls Boat Club on Friday September 20th from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Online condolences at www.richardsonfuneralservice.com.

Such wonderful memories of our 7th grade friendship. We "played" in the farm land behind our house on South Main St. and she decided to take a quick swim in the pond!! It was a cow pond!! So funny!!
Great sleep overs prank calling random people. She was a hoot. So sorry for your loss. She was a great person.
