Vernon Lee Sund

May 10, 1946 - March 26, 2025

Vernon Lee Sund, 78, passed away after a long battle with cancer on March 26, 2025. He passed peacefully with his wife, Joan Christensen-Sund, by his side at Kavanaugh Hospice House in Des Moines, IA. After retiring from John Deere and prior to losing his eyesight, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. Vern will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, and love for his family. He was a wonderful man who touched many lives. He is survived by his wife, Joan; his children, Julie (Tim) Eppler, Brian Sund, Amy Mahan & Brian Mahan; his siblings, Marvin (Judy) Sund & Adeline Olson; and his grandchildren, Mabel Eppler, Parker, Rory & Alex Sund. He is preceded in death by his parents Morris & Martha Sund and his brother LeRoy Sund.

Memorial and reception will be held at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Cedar Falls, IA on April 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Family will receive guests one hour prior to service. Memorials can be directed to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at 1302 W. 11th St., Cedar Falls, IA 50613.
